CIPI: Over the Hill or Over the Hump?
While celebrating its 40th anniversary, Comprehensive Identification Products Inc. (CIPI), Burlington, Mass., announced the acquisition of its second 100-percent-owned and operated manufacturing facility in China – this one in the city of Xiamen. “It is with extreme pleasure and excitement that we announce our new China manufacturing facility,” beamed chairman and CEO Peter Scott. “This is the largest investment in company history.”
The company began business dealings with China manufacturing in the 1980s and eventually purchased its own primary manufacturing complex in 1998, according to Scott. CIPI’s output in the country has since more than tripled, and the company now employs over 700 workers producing 300 million units each year.
