The FIU-710, otherwise known as the Puppy, from SONY is a fingerprint scanner, combining biometrics with smart card encryption and certification. The Puppy unit connects via a short USB cable and uses a semiconductive capacitor with an electrical field to sense live fingerprints. The unit comes bundled with I/O Software's SecureSuite program. The credit card sized Puppy unit uses your fingerprints to login to your PC, replace your passwords, and secure your folders on Windows 98, 98SE, ME, and 2000 systems. It has a 16-bit CPU and 512K of memory.
