The entire Texas grid could be destabilized if just 5.4% of the ERCOT batteries were compromised, according to a risk assessment published by Centrii. This means disrupting approximately 1,500 units could impact 30 million people.

The risk assessment modeled a coordinated cyberattack against the Texas grid, finding that a significant attack could lead to as much as $65 billion in economic damages. The report also found that elevating the security of the battery fleet to IEC 62443 Security Level 2, reducing the effectiveness of the potential cyberattack modeled, would instead cost between $800 million and $2.8 billion.
