Elena Gottreich has been named the City of Chicago's new Deputy Mayor of Public Safety.

The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) arrested and charged a Ukrainian national for their involvement in the ransomware attack against IT company Kaseya in July. 

A report published by the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) details how federal agencies currently use, and plan to expand their use of, facial recognition systems. 

According to researchers from Texas A&M, New York University and Rutgers who studied data from Suffolk County in Massachusetts, not prosecuting low-level crimes can lead to less crime overall.

The proposed legislation was revised following discussions with sexual assault survivors, changing the directive that colleges must report all Part 1 violent crimes or hate crimes to local law enforcement legislation, adding that colleges must report said crimes unless the victims expressly requests otherwise.
