Baltimore has created a Committee on Cybersecurity and Emergency Preparedness, as City Hall struggles to recover from a hack that crippled the government’s email and other computer systems.

It is estimated that 27 million new strains of malware were created in 2012 alone. 

Researchers have found evidence suggesting that the United States may have developed three computer viruses for use in espionage operations or cyber warfare.

While no car manufacturer has seen or reported an instance of hacking on one of their automobiles, the possibility is out there as nearly every modern car is made with several miniature computers embedded. 

There is a growing need to protect the dozens of tiny computers and electronic communications systems that are built into vehicles today.
