A recent software update to Tesla Model 3 vehicles makes it possible for drivers to play video games and access recreational apps while their vehicle is in motion. Although the program prompts users to confirm that they are passengers in the car, some Tesla owners were concerned about the feature, according to Reuters.

In a complaint submitted to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), a Tesla owner expressed worries about the circumventable identity confirmation and the ability to play video games and surf the internet while an automobile is in motion.

The NHTSA has begun to look into the issue, but no formal investigation has been opened. An NHTSA spokesperson confirmed their involvement in an email, saying, “We are aware of driver concerns and are discussing the feature with the manufacturer."

Tesla has not yet commented on the safety concern.
