New University of Illinois Center will Focus on Cybersecurity
The University of Illinois will lead a new center that will try to help government and the business world strengthen cybersecurity.
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security will spend $20 million over five years on the new Critical Infrastructure Resilience Center of Excellence.
According to The News-Gazette in Champaign (http://bit.ly/1MLEEgW ), the center will focus on improving the ability of cyber systems to detect potential threats and recover from attacks as quickly as possible, in addition to the the security of drones and other technology used by authorities.
Other institutions involved include Cornell University, Northeastern University, Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, Stanford University, UCLA, the University of Pennsylvania, USC and the University of Washington.
