A TSA agent is dead after being shot today at Los Angeles International Airport, according to reports compiled by CNN.
According to a 2:30 p.m. update, a gunman concealing an assault rifle walked up to an LAX checkpoint at 9:30 a.m. local time and opened fire on the TSA agent. When the gunman passed the security point, he was shot and wounded by a police officer.
A total of 10 shots were fired, and two people were hit – the TSA agent and the gunman.
The violence prompted evacuations of portions of LAX, and the FAA has ordered a “ground stop” for arriving planes.
