U.S. Customs and Border Patrol deploying multi-tech inspection system in Texas
U.S. Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) is deploying a multi-energy portal inspection system for scanning commercial vehicles crossing the U.S. border. The agency is deploying a system that has a number of technologies, including x-ray, radiation detection and identification scanning technologies, such as RFID and optical scanning.
The system is from a technology company called Leidos and was developed to help the agency boost accuracy and operational efficiency of its cargo scanning. The system collects data and applies artificial intelligence to aid border security officers in identifying border transports without agents physically inspecting every vehicle.
