Newly retired Police Chief Steve Parrish is named School Safety Officer of Dothan City Schools in Alabama. Located in Southeast Alabama, Dothan City Schools serves more than 8,800 students in 17 schools.

Parrish was previously police chief of the city of Dothan where he just retired in February 2021. Parrish has been credited with developing a comprehensive school safety plan in response to campus violence including the Parkland High shooting in Florida, which resulted in protection officers being places on Dothan school campuses.
