The White House has announced the 2023 Women, Peace and Security Strategy (WPS) and National Action Plan. The plan has been updated to include geopolitical changes, a rise in climate-related crises and advancements in technology.

The WPS agenda is to promote the safety and security of women and girls. WPS is also a core priority in the National Strategy on Gender Equity and Equality, which enshrines the advancement of gender equity and equality as a strategic imperative across U.S. domestic and foreign policy.

The plan is designed to increase accountability for conflict-related sexual violence, invest in the gender advisory workforce and address gender inequality as a form of political instability.
