Strategies for Security Leaders in the Midst of Skill Shortages
Listen to Kory Daniels, Chief Security & Trust Officer at LevelBlue, in this podcast episode.

In this episode of Lock It Down with Security Magazine, I had the pleasure of chatting with Kory Daniels, Chief Security & Trust Officer at LevelBlue, and hearing his advice for security leaders in the midst of talent shortages.
It’s no secret for those in the security industry that talent shortages can have a widespread impact. Organizations have reported heightened cybersecurity risks as a result of these skill shortages, but the issues don’t end there. Many teams will also experience burnout, which is an issue for security teams even in the best of times, which can only add to the talent gap concern if burnt out employees leave the industry.
While solving the talent crisis itself would be the ideal scenario, it will take time to bridge that gap, especially as traditional upskilling strategies aren’t always as effective for cybersecurity professionals. Therefore, security leaders are faced with a challenge in the midst of this talent gap: how do they lessen the burden on their teams without lowering security?
Here, you can listen to my conversation with Daniels about how leaders can make strategic tradeoffs in a time of limited staff and resources.
