The Physical Security Interoperability Alliance, a global consortium of physical security providers focused on promoting interoperability of IP-enabled devices in the security industry, has formed the Systems Working Group. The new group will provide architecture and design leadership in PSIA areas that span multiple working groups to ensure cohesive system designs that assure interoperability across all technical segments of the industry.
The Systems Working Group will work closely with PSIA’s four other working groups — Area Control, IP Video, Recording and Content Management, and Video Analytics — to develop standards, specifications and supporting materials that work to promote interoperable IP solutions.

The working group is currently developing a common metadata/event model specification to ensure all forms of data are accessible across all IP products. It is also creating DNS-SD/mDNS reference topologies for discovery, and systemwide identity management and systems-based time management definitions.
