Visionics' FaceIt ARGUS system can handle an unlimited number of camera inputs and provide real-time identification. Scalability of FaceIt ARGUS is accomplished through the use of the Biometric Network Platform. It consists of network ready elements-hardware components, called Biometric Network Appliances (BNAs), programming logic for connecting BNAs to each other or to standard security and information systems, and the core enabling FaceIt technology whose functionalities are encapsulated in the BNA components. FaceIt ARGUS uses a set of BNAs to capture real-time faces in streaming video, convert the facial images into faceprints (84-byte templates), which are in turn "shipped" via the network to the Workstation Server where the facial matching process in conducted. If a match exists, an alarm signals the operator to verify the match.
