The “How to Create High-Tech Value in Retail” Webinar details a global footwear company’s experience upgrading their alarm and surveillance system to yield much needed benefits.

Brown Shoe Company is a $2.6 billion company that has been around more than 130 years. The footwear giant manufactures a number of shoe brands, including Naturalizer, Dr. Scholl’s and LifeStride, and operates retail locations around the world, including Famous Footwear and Naturalizer.

With a small asset management team of only three people, the company decided to implement an alarm program that included video analytics. In this webinar, Kevin Darnell of Brown Shoe Co.,

Lisa Ciappetta, senior director of marketing at Protection 1 and Jim Shepherd, national account manager at Protection 1, talk about Brown Shoe Co.’s implementation of its video analytics program, as well as the specific applications the company is using the data for.

The presenters discuss loss prevention applications, as well as the ways merchandising and revenue management departments are able to use analytics to discover information about consumer trends and behavior. For example, Darnell talks about how re-entry analytics allowed the company to flag suspicious activity and even make a few apprehensions in cases where particular stores were being re-entered after closing. Merchandising departments are able to see trending data on a daily basis, such as which way customers typically turn when they walk in a store or where they spend most of their time.

Listeners also will learn about how retailers can take all of the data their security and surveillance systems are processing and translate the analytics into actionable data and easy to read reports or activities that can be accessed by a number of different people and departments within the company, across retail locations and regions.
