In late 1964, the Security World Publishing Co. introduced Security magazine, marking the establishment and signaling the growth of the private security profession.

While early issues covered guarding and investigations, it soon became apparent through the pages of Security that electronic systems such as burglar and fire alarms, door access, photo identification and video surveillance would emerge and complement in-house personnel and contracted services.

This issue of Security celebrates 40 years of bringing useful information to the profession with articles tracking four decades while tracing the evolution of private security and its use of products, systems and services. “Security magazine continues to educate and excite the profession with articles by top practitioners, editor-written features, product coverage and provocative columns by experts in their specialties,” said Publisher Randy Green. Security magazine is a publication within the BNP Media family, which also includes SDM magazine, aimed at security dealers and systems integrators. “Today and into the future, Security will continue its attention to quality content while providing readers who buy useful information on current and emerging technologies,” added Green.
