The Toronto Transit Commission is looking into how much identification is too much for post-secondary students.

Under current rules, full-time students get a discount on their monthly Metropass, but it’s only honored at the fare box if they show a second TTC-issued piece of identification proving they are students.

Milly Bernal, a TTC spokeswoman, said the commission was unaware of the petition when the internal review started.

The service regularly receives complaints from students who have been turned away for not carrying both cards or by drivers questioning the ID card’s authenticity.

Last year, the TTC eliminated the use of a similar card for high school students.
