Congressman Dan Lungren Receives ASIS Leadership Award

The CSO Roundtable of ASIS International today awarded its second Leadership in Security Award to Congressman Dan Lungren (R-CA), who has demonstrated leadership in the fight against global terrorism.

The California Republican has served on the House Committee on Homeland Security since its establishment and is the ranking member of that Committee’s Subcommittee on Emerging Threats, Cyber security, and Science and Technology. He is also a member of its Subcommittees on Management, Investigations and Oversight; and Transportation Security and Infrastructure Protection. In addition to his service on the House Committee on Homeland Security, Lungren is a member of the House Committee on the Judiciary, where he sits on the Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism and Homeland Security. As such, his work is dedicated to Homeland Security, as well as traditional types of threats. As a former Attorney General of California, he has a long record of being tough on crime and supports strong national security and defense policy.

After leaving public service briefly, the 9-11 attacks rekindled his desire to serve in Congress so he could better participate in the fight against global terrorism. He believes in risk-assessment-based homeland security policies, better resources for intelligence-gathering, and maintaining the best possible training and equipment for U.S. troops.

The Leadership in Security Award, introduced in 2009, goes to a security professional, public official, business executive or other deserving recipient who has demonstrated outstanding leadership toward the enhancement of security. The award to Lungren was presented during today’s CSO Roundtable breakfast with lawmakers on Capitol Hill.
