More security fences are going up on the Washington University campus.
The independent Student Life newspaper reports the additional fencing will ne erected on the North side of the campus as part of the ongoing effort to improve security. The second phase of the installation will involve locks on the gates that can only be opened with a key-card. The new fencing will link up with other fencing already in place and will block non students to residential areas on the north side of the campus.
Campus Police Chief Don Strom said, “I believe it will enhance security for that area, [restricting] access to our residential areas is an important part of the safety model for our campus.”
