They weigh a ton and they're hard to hide, but a Lancaster, Pa. man was arrested for allegedly trying to spirit manhole covers and sewer grates away from a city storage site.
 

 

Police allegedly caught Adam Steijger after a city employee saw a man moving around inside a secured, fenced city storage area. The employee told police he saw the man moving manhole covers and sewer grates to a fence, according to a criminal complaint.

 

According to the complaint, the man was about to slide the scrap metal items under the fence when he realized he had been spotted, the complaint said.
