Building Inclusive Security Teams from Perimeter to Core

KEYWORDS: healthcare facility / healthcare safety / healthcare security
12/13/22 2:00 pm to 12/13/23 EST
Contact: Amy Harrison

Within the healthcare sector, as well as countless other sectors where security reflects a broad patient, customer, and employee pool, building a diverse and inclusive security team starts with focusing on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) as any other business initiative. In order to make DEI principles a part of security’s business strategy, security leaders must focus on building inclusive teams diligently, deliberately, and with data to support the efforts. Matt Horace, CSO at Mayo Clinic will explore building an inclusive security team, implementing DEI practices as a business initiative, and learning how to align such successes to overall business goals.

Learning Objectives:

  • Create specific steps that your security function can take to make DEI principles a true business initiative.
  • Communicate diversity and leadership principles in a way that promotes teamwork and accomplishment, rather than division and resentment.
  • Bring the “WHY” of diversity and inclusion into the discussion and learn how to implement a DEI program in a proactive manner.
  • Recognize what your data says about your security function and measure your DEI practices for accountability and transparency.
