Radiation Detection and Identification

The Interceptor, from Thermo Electron, Waltham, Mass., is a pager-sized spectroscopic personal radiation detector (SPRD) that enables personnel to detect and identify possible nuclear threats. The device enables immediate identification of the radionuclide and electronically transmits the data, along with a digital picture and an audio description of the situation.
