In an effort to decrease traffic violence and deaths in New York City (NYC), Mayor Eric Adams announced safety funding totaling $904 million over five years.
The funds will be used to bolster physical safety infrastructure to protect cyclists, drivers and pedestrians. The investment will advance the statutory commitments of the NYC Streets Plan, the transformative five-year vision to expand the mileage of bike lanes, dedicated bus lanes and busways, and reclaimed pedestrian space on city streets.
