The Community Hospital in Grand Junction, Colorado has hired soon-to-be-retired Mesa County Sheriff Matt Lewis as Director of Safety and Security. 

In his new role, Lewis will lead Community Hospital’s safety and security efforts and initiatives and will report directly to Joe Gerardi, Chief Operating Officer/Chief Nursing Officer.

Community Hospital in Grand Junction, Colorado, is a full-service, acute care hospital licensed for 60 beds. As part of the Colorado West Healthcare System, Community Hospital is a Level III Trauma Center that offers full outpatient diagnostic services and inpatient care for the Western Slope region of Colorado and eastern Utah. The hospital is the fourth largest employer in its county with more than 1,150 employees.

Lewis will leave the Sheriff’s Office after 25 years, where he has served as sheriff since January 2015.
