With enhanced guest safety and the reducing of operational costs at the forefront of many hotelier's minds, Hilton Surfer's Paradise Hotel & Residences initiated a security access upgrade.

Soaring above the white sands of Australia’s most iconic beach, Hilton Surfers Paradise Hotel & Residences is located in the heart of Australia's Gold Coast. The 178-guestroom property includes a combination of stylish guest rooms, suites and spacious self-contained, apartment style residences.

In order to ensure guest safety, the hotel adopted VingCard Signature RFID door locks with Mobile Access from ASSA ABOLY, which use the latest encryption technology while providing a contactless option to check-in and entry to guestrooms using personal devices.

Also of benefit to the hotel is the solution's ability to integrate with the hotel's energy management system, so that management can determine room occupancy status and automatically adjust in-room amenities to energy-saving levels. The solution integrates with guestroom lights and thermostats for this purpose.

"We are always looking for ways to make each guest stay be safer, more convenient and always memorable, with ASSA ABLOY Global Solutions and its impressive technology offerings going above and beyond in allowing us to reach each of these goals," said Jerry Schwartz, co-founder of Schwartz Family Co. which owns and operates Hilton Surfer's Paradise Hotel & Residences.

Mirroring ASSA ABLOY Global Solutions' approach to future-proof innovation, existing VingCard locks at Hilton Surfer's Paradise Hotel & Residences were able to be upgraded to the latest version of Signature RFID electronic locks to provide additional features and operational advantages. Upgrading the locks to the latest version allows the hotel to minimize the risk of unauthorized keycard cloning.

Now able to benefit from Mobile Access, guests staying at the hotel can look forward to breezing by front desk check-in lines where germ contact risks may be present. Instead, they can gain entry to their guestrooms from the moment that they first arrive by placing their smart device within proximity to the appropriate Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) reader.

"Our hotel's upgrade to VingCard Signature RFID does not just only ensure greater property-wide security while meeting guest demands for instant and social distancing-compatible service," said Paul Briggs, Sustainability & Projects Coordinator at Schwartz Family Co. "It also represents an opportunity to provide guests with a personalized experience that many increasingly expect while at the same time lowering building energy expenses."
