The results are in: Portland, Maine bans facial recognition
Portland, Maine passed a referendum brought to voters on election day. Per the Bangor Daily News, the city passed “Referendum Question B,” designed to curb government and police use of facial recognition technology.
The referendum allows for strengthening of a ban on the use of facial recognition surveillance technology by police and other public officials.
