Wisconsin launches school safety tip line funded by federal grant
The Speak Up, Speak Out Resource Center created by the Wisconsin Department of Justice is available around the clock to serve as a resource for helping to prevent school violence, threats or safety concerns, including bullying, drug use, self-harm, suicidal thoughts, violence and more. The program is being funded by a $2 million federal grant.
The center allows concerned parents, students, teachers or community members to report a threat or concern via a website, mobile phone application or toll-free number 24/7. Tips are monitored and can be responded to or sent to police or school officials as necessary. With many students in remote learning this Fall, students have less contact with teachers, counselors, coaches and others so the tip line allows students to have another avenue to contact someone.
