ESET announced that applications are open for the fifth annual ESET Women in Cybersecurity Scholarship. This year, ESET will award $5,000 each to three(3) young women currently enrolled as undergraduates and who major in a STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) field. Applications are due on Wednesday, August 14, 2020 at 11:59pm PT.

An (ISC)2 Women in Cybersecurity Report found that men currently outnumber women three to one in the field of cybersecurity, says ESET, and striving for a more diverse workforce is critical to addressing the modern, evolving threat landscape.  “It’s inspiring to see how many young women are so passionate about this field and want to do good in the world with the technology skills they are developing,” said Celeste Blodgett, vice president of human resources, ESET. “The ESET Women in Cybersecurity Scholarship is designed to encourage and empower women—an underrepresented segment of talent in this industry—to pursue a career in cybersecurity."

ESET will award a $5,000 scholarship each to three (3) young women who are currently graduate/undergraduate students in the San Diego area and who are majoring in a STEM field of study. Applicants must be enrolled in or accepted to an accredited college or university within the United States. (The graduate/undergraduate program does not have to be a “cybersecurity” program; however, in the application, applicants should make clear that they aspire to have a career in the cybersecurity industry.)

Additional requirements include:

  • A minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA.
  • U.S. citizen or permanent resident with a permanent resident ID card.
