A new committee will report back to the Madison, Wis. School Board about how to handle safety, security and disproportionality in discipline after the board voted to remove school resource officers (SROs), says a news report

According to a document, the group, established by an unanimous Board vote, will focus on budget and policy recommendations to the Board. The committee will provide answers to questions such as what measures need to be in place when schools reopen; consider safety and security High School Systems that would remain the same, revised/strengthened or and/or changed; consider resources needed to support safe schools-reallocation of resources; review and make recommendations regarding current policies of safety, security and police involvement. 

The committee comprises School Board members, students, parents, teachers, a school security staff member and community leaders. In addition, an administrative team will do the work to prepare schools for not having SROs.
