William J. Bratton will step down from his position as the commissioner of the New York Police Department next month to take a job in the private sector, according to a New York Times report. This move will mark the end of Bratton’s 45-year career in public life.
He will be replaced by the NY Police Department’s top uniformed officer, Chief James O’Neill, a veteran New York commander who became a police officer in 1983, the report says.
