DHS Secretary Jeh Johnson is giving NYC $181 million to help buy more surveillance cameras and fireboats and beef up safety in the subway system. It will also be used to pay for overtime costs for police officers and anti-terror teams at airports, bus and train stations, in addition to bomb sniffing dogs and communications infrastructure.
The funds — an increase of $2 million from last year — are part of the $1.6 billion aid that DHS is given to various cities for fiscal year 2015, said the New York Daily News.
