$199 Million Recovered from Retail Thieves in 2013
Almost 1.2 million shoplifters and dishonest employees were apprehended in 2013 by just 23 large retailers. Over $199 million was recovered from these thieves, according to the 26th Annual Retail Theft Survey from Jack L. Hayes International.
The number of apprehensions and recovery dollars were up in 2013 – 2.5-percent increases in apprehensions and 4.5-percent increases in recovery dollars for shoplifters, and 6.5- and 2.5-percent increases respectively for dishonest employees.
