Illinois Set Aside $25 Million for School Security
Despite major cutbacks throughout the state’s education system, $25 million has been set aside for school security improvements, according to KMOV. Governor Pat Quinn announced May 2 that the money would be granted to 448 public elementary and secondary school districts, community collges and state universities in Illinois, supporting 1,312 projects.
“Nothing is more important in Illinois than keeping our schools safe,” says Gov. Pat Quinn in an Illinois.gov press release. “These projects will strengthen security at main entry points, providing school personnel with critical moments to alert law enforcement, activate plans to protect students and save lives.”
