Concern for Children’s Safety at School Climbs to 25%
Twenty-five percent of U.S. parents report “frequently” worrying about their child being harmed at school
Twenty-five percent of U.S. parents report “frequently” worrying about their child being harmed at school, and that concern is up from 2009-2011, according to Gallup’s annual Crime poll, conducted Oct. 3-6, 2013. The higher parental concern in this year’s survey could be a residual effect from the Newtown, Conn., school shootings.
Concern about a school-aged child being harmed at school ranks third among parents’ concerns about crime in the report, behind unauthorized use of phone and email records, and identity theft.
