The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has issued a final rule that changes the name of the “Commercial Mobile Alert System” to “Wireless Emergency Alerts,” or WEA.
The Warning Alert and Response Network Act, or WARN Act, supplies the technical requirements that commercial mobile service providers such as Verizon, AT&T and Sprint must follow when transmitting such emergency alerts.
