National Summit Brings Together Leaders To Focus On Campus Safety
Twenty years after the federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act took effect, the nation’s most prominent thought leaders on campus safety will come together to discuss the critical issues facing colleges and universities. On September 29th, during National Campus Safety Awareness Month, Lehigh University and Security On Campus, Inc. (SOC) will present the summit, "Proceeding in Partnership: The Future of Campus Safety." The event will be held at Lehigh's Mountaintop Campus, and will feature panel discussions on sexual violence, alcohol and other drug abuse, and emergency response.
"Jeanne loved life, and loved people," said SOC's co-founder Connie Clery, whose daughter Jeanne was killed at Lehigh in 1986 inspiring Congress to enact the law now named in her memory. "Nothing would please her more than to know her legacy has been making students safer so they can live and enjoy life."
