ASSE Brings Together Safety Pros

U.S. Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis will address thousands of occupational safety and health professionals from around the globe attending the June 28-July 1, 2009, American Society of Safety Engineers’ (ASSE) Professional Development Conference (PDC) and Exposition in San Antonio, Texas. Secretary Solis will address the crowd in a General Session presentation to be held the morning of June 29. ASSE PDC features 225 educational sessions featuring cutting edge issues along with one of the largest occupational safety, health and environmental Expositions in the U.S. The expo features 400 companies including 70 new exhibitors.

Sunday, July 28 from noon – 5:00 p.m.

Monday, June 29 – Wednesday, July 1, 8 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. 

ASSE’s annual conference aims to provide attendees with the most up to date information on the professional, safety, health and environmental issues; business updates; a global perspective of the issues; networking; presentation of new products and much more with this 3-day conference and expo. It is also where the ASSE House of Delegates meet each year to review Society business and the future of the profession and workplace safety. 

Other speakers include Economist and Fox News Business Journalist Stuart Varney and Former Yahoo! Chief Solutions Officer Tim Sanders. Varney will address the state of global business and the economy and Sanders will discuss corporate social responsibility and green business practices. U.S. Acting Assistant Secretary of Labor for Occupational Safety and Health (OSHA) Jordan Barab will participate in a special Plenary Session. The last day will feature an “Executive Summit” with corporate executives sharing their insights on what they look for in a successful safety and health program and SH&E practitioners and a luncheon featuring Chip Eichelberger, a business motivational speaker and certified speaking professional, will discuss what safety and health professionals can do to promote their programs, themselves and the importance of safety in their organizations. Key issue roundtables, which provide individual attendees an opportunity to discuss issues and experiences, will also be held.
