TOA Electronics, Inc. has donated a shoulder megaphone for use in their volunteer training programs. The Peace Corps Tonga runs an intense cultural immersion program during their volunteer training, and they needed a portable solution for making announcements. The security-oriented megaphone seemed to be a perfect match for their needs. “This year, we were able to more efficiently run large events involving trainees and their home stay communities,” noted Elenoa Kauvaka of Peace Corps Tonga, “In the past we’ve had to pay large fees for this type of equipment, and it would typically require electricity, which is often not available in villages. Needless to say, it’s been indispensable.”

The Peace Corps was established in 1961 and since that time has served 138 countries, through the help of 182,000 volunteers. Peace Corps volunteers work in various capacities including education, youth outreach, community development, health and HIV/AIDS, agriculture, environment, business development, and information technology.
